Celebrating 37 Years of Cultural Unity

It has now been 37 years and the Annual Cultural Unity Fair at Wapato Middle School shows no signs of slowing down. A large crowd attended the 37th annual event held March 28th to recognize and celebrate the community’s diversity. Those who attended enjoyed a smorgasbord of cultural foods and were treated to a variety of traditional dances performed by students and staff. A group of Wapato Middle School Teachers organized the first Cultural Unity Fair in 1982 as way to help change the perception, at the time, that the Wapato community was dominated by gangs and violence.
